Okay, I’ll admit… “Best” can be subjective. BUT, if you’re looking for:
Great Food
Classic Characters
Frequent Character interaction
Dining with rooftop views
Then look no further than Topolino’s Terrace!
Located in Disney’s Riveria Resort, Topolino’s Terrace is a bustling Character breakfast locatoin by day, and signature dining restaurant by night. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy are featured in various artistic professions. Every half an hour or so they do a cute “parade” where they walk around the room and do some choreography, and invite the guests to clap along.
The Food
After a checking in at the front desk and leading us to our table, they start you off with a wonderful bucket of pastries. In our bucket, there were two of each of the follow: mini chocolate chip muffins, mini croissants, apple muffins. They are delicious! Warm, buttery, and very comforting. They are accompanied by a hazelnut spread, a berry compote, and butter on the side. But try not to fill up too much on them - I asked my waiter for a to-go box so I could store them in my hotel room.
As for drinks, coffee and tea are not included in the price, but POG juice is! Pog juice is a classic in the Disney World resort. It stands for Passion Orange Guava juice, and it’s sweet and delicious. You can actually find Pog juice out in the regular world, but somehow at Disney it just tastes better!
For mains, we ordered the quiche and the steak & eggs.
First up, the steak and eggs. We opted for the scrambled eggs, which were are soft and flavorful, steak was smoky and flavorful. I will note that it was little dry. You also get 3 pretty good sized chunks. My dad was stuffed by the end of the meal.
The quiche, which was filled with ham and cheese, and came with a side salad and baby potatoes. It was delicious. The pastry is flaky and provides good structure to the soft and melty quiche.
Surprisingly, the star of the show were the baby potatoes. Soft, well salted, crispy on the outside with a fluffy interior… I could not stop stealing them from my dad. Overall, the steak and eggs are a good bang for buck, and probably the best value for the mains.
Character interactions
Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy go around the room, spaced out from one another so each family can focus on the character they’re meeting. The interactions felt personal and relaxed, and I loved taking my time asking Minnie about her newest poem (it’s always about Mickey, fam) or asking Donald when he’ll be ready to propose to Daisy (he wagged his finger at me and made the shushing motion, so I think it may be soon!).
If you’re attentive, you might catch the characters interacting with each other, which is equally exciting and fun! During my visit, I caught Minnie blowing a kiss at Mickey, and Mickey shaking his head and miming at Donald when Donald was blocking his path.
If you’re shy and afraid of character interactions, don’t worry - the team is expert at reading body language. You can also let the character attendant know that you’d like to just engage from a distance. There are plenty other families for the characters to meet, and they won’t be offended!
How do I get a reservation?
Topolino’s Terrace is notoriously difficult to snag a reservation for, but that’s what Disney Travel Agents (like myself) are here for! We wake up at the crack of dawn and obsessively refresh the reservation page to grab reservations. My brag is that there’s not a reservation that I haven’t been able to get yet! So if you need help with booking your upcoming Disney trips, it’s not too late - I’m always here!
Let me know if you’ve been to Topolino’s Terrace and if you’d say it’s the best Character Dining around. Which are your other contenders? Feel free to share!
Thanks for reading, and until next time!
